Car was a '73 318/904 car, swapped in 340/727 combo - the trans crossmember holes on the frame are different on the 727 crossmember, kinda surprises me that they'd drill them different if both transmissions were available in the A bodies (?). I'm assuming I can re-drill the necessary holes but wanted to double check if anyone else has seen this and resolved the same way.

Something is wrong. The cross member you had under the 904 should work.
I used the same one when going from 904 to long tail 727. Did I turn the center section around from where it was before ? Dunno. All I know is I din't have to buy another or drill any holes.

Have to agree with Redfish. All A bodies used the same cross member whether it was 3 speed, 4 speed, 904, or 727.

10-4, kinda what I assumed. I'll try and flip it around tomorrow, but assumed (we know what that means) it would be the same either way, must be different right vs left so it'll fit one way only ? We'll see, thanks.

Agreed. I went from a S6 904 to 727 - same crossmember with no changes whatsoever.

Maybe have a B or E body crossmember on that 727?
