transmission linkage setup

Hi guys,
I am having trouble getting my transmission linkage in the right spot. I am not getting the proper downshift when i floor the gas pedal, nor am i shifting at the right rpm. the transmission is a 1971 dodge dart automatic 904 hooked up to a /6 engine. Any pictures or setups that you guys can put up on the forum would be very helpful thanks.

As long as the kickdown linkage is stock and moves freely, it's usually just a matter of adjustment. Make the linkage longer and the transmission shifts later and kicks down easier....make it shorter and it shifts earlier and takes more to get it to downshift (if at all).

Floor the gas, adjust to trans lever all the way back. Then fine tune.
