What colors were the trap door aircleaners on the 69 340 Darts? were they orange, Black, or wrinkle black? I don't need correct, but I would like something that looks close for my dart.
Thanks!

Trap door air cleaners should be orange and they are for certain engines 72 and up

a 69 dart used the round air cleaner with no snorkels in wrinkle black

X's2! She nailed it. This is on my 5.9 in a '79 Magnum.

If that one has the door in the bottom it is a 72 only.
But the one you pictured the color is off.
Yours looks like it was painted hemi orange.
The originals had more red tint to them, still trying to find out what shade it is.
If somebody will host a pic for me I will gladly take a picture of a original un-painted one.

Correct actually. Though it is off, the color everywhere. The engine bay was JUST painted Spiniker White. It don't look white! LOL

Well thanks folks. I think I will still use the aircleaner anyway on my 69. It's not a #'s matching car by any means, just want it looking somewhat original. Guess I will paint it orange.

Trapdoor:
Only Available in 1972 with a 340
Would be all orange with an engine call out sticker instead of a pie pan

Correct for you:
Unsilenced Air Cleaner
Wrinkle black finish (Chrome looks much better as shown below)
Pie pan with engine call out on it
