Please post your condolences for 64dart170 and Abodybetty's beautiful rottie, Vinny. He passed away this morning on his 10th B-day. I know they could use your support.

"The one absolutely unselfish friend that
a man can have in this selfish world,
the one that never deserts him,
the one that never proves ungrateful
or treacherous, is his dog.

A man's dog stands by him in prosperity
and in poverty,
in health and in sickness.
He will sleep on the cold ground where
the wintery winds blow,
and the snow drives fiercely,
if only he may be near his master's
side. He will kiss the hand that has no
food to offer, he will lick the sores
and wounds that come in encounter with
the roughness of the world. He guards
the sleep of his Pauper master as if he
were a prince.

When all other friends desert,
he remains.
When riches take wings and reputation
falls to pieces, he is as constant in
his love as the sun in it's journey
through the heavens.
If misfortune drives the master forth
an outcast in the world, friendless
and homeless, the faithful dog asks
no higher privilege than that of
accompanying him to guard against
danger, to fight against his enemies.

And when the last scene of all comes,
and death takes the master in it's
embrace, and his body is laid away in
the cold ground, no matter if all other
friends pursue their way, there by the
graveside will the noble dog be found,
his head between his paws, his eyes sad,
but open in alert watchfulness,
faithful and true, even in death."

That picture is awesome John and I thought it fitting with the words of the post ..... ....He will sleep on the cold ground where
the wintery winds blow,
and the snow drives fiercely,
if only he may be near his master's
side.

I'm very glad you like it and if I lived closer, you know I'd be there.

Posted this on John's thread also...

Our family condolences to our to you and your family. We're sorry for your loss.
Dogs are special. We're both 'dog people' and love our two "fur kids" like they were our own flesh and blood.
Always keep the good memories close to your heart. That's the way our loved ones live on with us forever until we're all able to meet again.
Vinny is now in the "land of the slow squirrels" and waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sorry for your loss-know how that feels. We raise Weimaraners; lost our 10 yr old male Roscoe in Mar; our 8 yr old Brittany gave up in May, then we lost our 3 month old pup Grizz in July. My avatar pic is of my smartest "kid"- all she wants is to be with us. Heart goes out to ya, man- just keep all the good memories, part of him will always be with you in the quiet moments.

Sorry to hear about Vinny, They get to be one of the family and I know having them pass is hard. He was a great looking pal. Sleep well Vinny!

thanks Stan for writing.
One of the family is the truth! He was a deep dude. It wasn't all milk bones and butts for him. He was all about our son first, me, and he always had a special place in his heart for his mommy ABB.
He always would let other pets into the home strays kitties and Lex too!
Lately with not being able to get up much, he would shoot right up and go outside to greet mom when she got home at night. He really loved his mommy too.
There wern't alot of people he didn't like. When we would run into a person he didn't like Red Flags would go up for that person. They weren't good.
Have a good evening Stan.
