Trouble finding drive

Okay, just install Hughes 2500 stall torque converter and cleaned the transmission , new clutches got everything installed now in drive shifts from 1st to 2nd about 2500, than trying to get it to drive gear is a real problem, I have found it so I know it work just a problem to find it without loading up the rpm...is this normal or something with the transmission

What car, what trans?


So are you saying under normal driving conditions, it doesn't want to find drive?

Did you install and adjust the throttle pressure linkage correctly?

Dart sport 360...727 and yes shift linkage and kick down linkage both install correct

Bruce has a point. It's possibly the throttle valve linkage (kickdown linkage) is adjusted too tight. Back the adjustment off some and see how it acts. Another indicator is how you say it shifts into 2nd at 2500 rpm. I assume you mean that's under light throttle and if so that's way too high. Should shift into 2nd by 1200-1400 rpm under light throttle
