Hello friends. If you have no torsion bars or the mount pivot holes are wrecked like mine were, here's an alternative. Miged the brackets on as I thought holes would weaken the lid arms. 80lb rams are the ticket. Holds the lid up solid. Comes down with a minimal amount of help. Will hold the lid stationary in any position. Goes up with a finger tip. Any more rate increase in ram will move the lid adjust bolts and lift the front of the lid from the body if the bolts/nuts aren't tight. Any less and the lid won't stay. My 3rd set.
Depending on the condition, how straight, the factory torsion bars brackets are will determine if you have to trim off excess threads on the hood side of the rams. If the hood side ram brackets are attached outboard, thread clearance won't be an issue. Welding them outside will be tough unless you remove the hinges. You'll need new press fit washers if you force the old ones off. Fender side is 3/8s nut/bolt. If tire inner fender clearance is an issue a carriage bolt would be better.
Thanks to all the members from who I have bought parts from! We're almost driving.
Glad to answer any questions. 69 dart.
