So I spent a few hours on my back in the trunk last night. This is the last area I have to paint before shipping her off. While I was listening rocking to the sounds of pearl jam I couldn’t help but notice how much sheet metal never got a splash of paint at the factory. The next few hours were tons of fun. I got out the wire wheel, dremel tool, rust mort and my safety goggles. Nothing like being crumpled up in the trunk with crud all over your face while brushing phosphoric acid on the bottom of the package tray. As much as I like my new freckles from the acid rain I’m thankful it was only a little scale and surface rust. I wonder how long the modern car would last with no paint and the thin gauge sheet metal? I can’t wait to prime and paint an my back while in the trunk. I think I’ll use my HVLP touch up gun.

I found very little surface rust on the underside of my package tray. Spent a can of Rustoleum rust reformer primer on it while in there installing speakers.
