Ok so I am having a hell of a time trying to get a 2.5 inch TTI pipe up to the manifold on the passenger side. Here is all the info on the car… 1966 Barracuda, 360 magnum 727 trans and a floor shift. Factory 273 manifolds on both driver and passenger side. I used Schumacher creative motor mounts to bolt the engine in. I bought the TTI exhaust because I know it’s always been highly regarded and it is super nice. My worry is that I never took into account the 727 trans and how much bigger it is than a 904. It seems like the trans is kinda in the way of getting the pipe in.

I didn’t really want to use the 727, but this was my father I laws car I put back together after many years and the 727 was one he had just built before it went into storage and time was of the essence to get it running before he passed away. I have a 904 I could build for it but the 727 works so good I hate to swap if I don’t have too.

So my question is will these TTi pipes fit an early a with a 727? I have no problem dimpling aloe even cutting and welding the pipe if I need too I just hate to cut on it it’s so nice and was 1000 bucks. The TTI site just says it fits auto floor shift only. Here some pics of the car. Thanks for any advice you guys have.

Ok I may just be dense… after some more fiddling and swearing at it I got it poped into place. Man it’s tight! But it’s in there!

Did you have to thin the head of the big bolt that holds the 90 degree oil filter adapter on? Another member here had to do that on his TTI pipes, and it was in the instructions to do so. He says it's a pain in the butt to get that passenger side pipe to fit up!

i need to do that, but at the time i didn't even have the oil filter adapter in place. i just ended up having to pry the torsion bar to the side just a bit to get it to slip in. its in now, i may dimple the pipe to clear the oil filter adapter bolt, its s stock 360, its not gonna hurt anyting if i do....

Here's a pic of the one he did. Dude did it with a hacksaw! @65barracudaLA is a bad ***. The pic also illustrates the difference in 90 degree adapters. The one on the right is for Early A's. The one on the left is 67 and up A bodies, plus everything else. Use the one on the left in an Early A and it will make the oil filter hit the frame rail.

You already know the problem. A 727 was never in an early A. 904 only. :BangHead: :BangHead:

I did have a 340/727 in my 65 Barracuda (now a mag360 4sp) and yes it is a very tight fit and engine placement is very critical. And as mentioned you must cut the bolt head down that hold the oil filter adapter in place. Also I had to use the after market mini starter to clear the drivers side header.

Thanks @JDMopar , I have since replace the bolt with this one I bought on ebay. The problem is that you can not get a 1-3/16" (I think) wrench on the bolt with the exhaust in place. With the new bolt I still had to put a little dimple in the tube, but at least you can tighten it without having to remove the exhaust. I might still have the shortened bolt somewhere, if anyone wants it. It took a while to get the fitment of the TTi exhaust in my '65 Barracuda right, I had to cut off way more than they said and I had to shim the passenger side motor mount. They had also sent me the wrong exhaust hangers. I ended up buying the correct ones from a member here on FABO. For the early A-body they are unfortunately the only option if you want dual exhaust.
