I need to tune the Carter 625 AVS on my Duster. Any help how to do this? Its on a 72 340 cut 30 over.

It runs ok but aren't you supposed to tune the carb to the engine? How do you set a new one up?

By running it first to find out mixture requirements and accelerator pump shot tailoring.

What part number?

How about bolt it on,hook up choke if has one, fire it up, get out a timing light, set idle rpm with throttle blade adj screw till idle rpm is maxed & degrading then a cnt hair back, then evenly adjust idle mixture screws [while idling in gear foot on brake][or 4spd neutral] till idle rpm is maxed & degrading then a cnt hair back, then check your timing [for reference] , then lastly install a new spark plugs or at least 1 new on each side.

Then take out for a cruise and see how it runs cuising, freeway, wot, ect.
see what the plugs look like after 50 miles or so and look/feel for any hestitation/jerking while cruise, back fire, pop, bogging ect.

Keep your eyes open for an olc Carter Stirip Kit. Has a bunch of different sizes of jets and metering rods. Hard to fine but not impossible. You might check if jets and metering rods from the edelbrock thunder series will work, its essentially an AVS carb.
