I just purchased the last item I need to finish my car for mopars at the strip.

just picked up a full manual valve body with a reverse pattern and a tci outlaw shifter.

ive done shift kits before and have play with valve bodies a little bit so im familiar with the install. i rear somewhere that i need to replace my shift lever to a 5.0 to keep from burning up 1st gear. is this true?
 
904 or 727 ?

727 does not like the 5.0 lever....

What does the instructions say?
 
i just purchased it through summit about 20 minutes ago so i dont have the instructions yet
 
just read the instructions and it doesn mention anything about the lever, it does however give you detailed instructions on how to adjust the 1st gear band... interesting
 
I ran them in the 80's and it was a pretty easy bolt in and go. I used the factory console shifter just took a little getting use to shifting backwards
