This week I bought a 72' Demon with a 71' duster parts car. With the purchese I got a pallete load of drivetrain parts diff,a Tranny, etc. The previous owner told me it was a 8.75 suregrip, but it actually has a cover on the back that unbolts my old man has challenger with a 8.75 and his does not have that it also has a weird shield or cover above the yoke I've never see that before. The guy also told it was a 833 4spd and I was just wondering if the Cast number C11642 K4 verifys that.Any info on this would be very help for on this.
Thanks guys.

I am 99% sure that it is NOT an 8 3/4 rear end. More likely it is a 8 1/4 or 7 1/4 rear end.

The 7 1/4" rear end has 9 bolts.

the 8 1/4" rear end has 10 bolts. Though don't confuse it with a Chevy 10 Bolt rear end.

Joe Dokes

sweet! the 8.25 is a great rear end! it will handle alot from most any street car...

It was a pretty good deal on the stuff, still working on deciperfing the tranny.Yeah that struck me as just weird when he told me that rearend was a 8.75 on the pallete both my old man challenger and gtx both have that and it didn't even look close to it so I figured might as well ask some experts on it.
