Car, engine and trans all stock and all original.

Rockauto is probably the cheapest route to get something decent. Summit or Jegs too. The problems with all those avenues tho is they wont differentiate the exact fit for your model......youll need to know which is which.

I would suggest a call to Dr Diff on the phone, and tell him what car you have and the details you do know (stock). He will hook you up, and the pricing is still very good.

Thank you. I started looking on classic Ind. They have 3 options - 7290, 7260 and 1350. $13 or $28. Just not sure which is the right one.

O'reilly's, Autozone, Napa, Rockauto, Jegs, Summit, Dr Diff, or any other auto parts store or drive line repair shop.

The mechanic doing the work checked all the local stores. None had the right one. But he never told me which one was the right one....
Moog 315G ??? I'm pretty sure you'd have the small u joints. somebody will confirm, but seems 315G by Moog is correct...

Be sure the snap rings are installed on the inside of each cap or you'll have a bad day.

Although Chrysler universal joint usage can sometimes seem indefinite, all 1974 A-bodies, regardless of engine or transmission, were equipped with 3.25" diameter driveshafts, of various lengths, and type 7260 universal joints on both ends.

Your 1974 Dart Swinger with a 318 was equipped with two 7260 universal joints, Chrysler part number 3780250. If nothing has changed since 1974, it should still have the 7260 size. 7260 is a reference designation and is also used to identify the universal joint size.

Replacement universal joints are readily available. The following listing includes original Chrysler numbers and aftermarket replacements. Note that some of the listed companies/numbers are no longer active, or have been absorbed by others. NOS parts might be found, otherwise listed for reference.

Additional Information

7260 and 7290 are reference numbers, but not part numbers, for the smaller and larger cross and roller universal joints commonly used in most Chrysler passenger cars and light trucks from the late 1950s into the 1990s. A third type, the 1330 series, was used in Chrysler and Imperial vehicles with constant velocity joints and as a single joint in 1966-1967 GTX and R/T. The 1350 and 1410 series were used in some larger truck applications.

- The 7260 universal joints have a 2.125" yoke inner dimension with a 1.078" cap diameter.
- The 7290 universal joint has a 2.625" yoke inner dimension with a 1.125" cap diameter.

WOW, nice looking Dart! Great photo!

What’s wrong with the existing u joints or are you proactively having them replaced? The rear leaf springs appear to have quite a sag too, is that on the list to replace too?

Wow. Very thorough! Thank you. Learned more here than I did during all my college years. All 6 of them...

Had some random/intermittent rattling, knocking. Couldn't tell if it was exhaust pipe broken, brake hardware or bad u-joint.
Turned out to be u-joint. Mechanic DID have the right one, but did not initially fit. Cap was not completely seated. All good now.
And yes, it does seem to be sagging a bit. Not planning on doing anything with springs yet. Would prefer to sell it. We're looking to buy a house or property to build and need to get rid of the payment.
