Decided today to find out why my cig lighter doesn't work. Lighter itself is unused and appears original so I stuck my 12v circuit tester in the light socket and poof!
Now I have no dash lights, no interior map(kick panel) lights and of all things, no tail lights.
My interior dome light, brake lights and turn signals ARE working.
Didn't have a lot of time, but it looked like all my fuses are ok. I really only had 5 minutes to look due to getting my butt to work, and some of those fuses look like 1971 vintage.

Oh, by the way, it's a 1971 Demon. Are there some other fuses somewhere else?

I've done that. It's pretty easy to brush part of the tester probe against the housing of the lighter. Dead short, and a blown fuse!

Sometimes they blow at the end under the cap so you can't really see it.

Thanks D. Blown just under the cap. Never seen it before. Learned me a new lesson today.

All but the tip of my test light is covered with electric tape for that reason.
