I have a friend looking for one of the universals that is larger on the one side, smaller on the other, where can you buy these?

Just start calling parts houses, driveline shops etc. in your area until you find one that carries the Combination U-joint 7260 to 7290 style--- Spicer 5-527X, Meritor CP527X, Precision 347, CR UJ347, TRW 20226, Napa NUJ240-0369, Neapco 2-0527
I try to only use Spicer as my experience has proven that they hold up better. Your experience may vary.....

Spicer discontinued the 5-527x, see your local Driveline shop for neapco's or Rockwell/Meritor CP527, id try for the RM joint 1st
