Upper/Lower steering column bearings

You actually had an upper bearing go bad?? How many million miles does that car have one it? 
I would have a used upper bearing for $10 delivered. There was no lower bearing as such. There should be a plastic bushing built into the rubber seal for the tube. It's available new from the usual suspects. It's just there to keep junk out of the tube. The steering gear acts as a lower bearing.
