This morning I decided to take my barracuda for a drive, even though I am supposed to be sheltering in place and not going outside. Which is the perfect time to go for a cruise, especially in the bay area with the amount of normal traffic
Quick backstory, the car is almost all the way broke in, tons of suspension upgrades/changes, rear disc brakes, new rear end, 4link rear suspension, solid 408 and a change to manual steering. Pretty much a new car to drive
I live inland (san jose) and decided to drive to toward the coast (scotts valley) which is a two-lane mountain highway with lots of twists, turns, climbs and descents as you roll through redwoods. A great drive that is usually full of slow cars and trucks. I know the highway well, just not in the barracuda
This morning the road was pretty much wide open, I was able to drive uninhibited with a few obstacles to negotiate. I pushed the car; the manual steering is a little different but predictable. To be honest I liked that extra connection to the road that was offered with this steering change. There was a wimpy m3 driver out but lost them on the first S turn and never saw them again.
The takeaway – there is a positive to the pandemic, I can drive my car the way I want, with out having to monitor the temp gauge. I had a blast; it was probably one of the better drives I’ve ever done. I am looking forward to next weekend and better weather
Sorry no pictures, driving
But here is the stance of the car now
