vacation time

I am taking my two sons to Colorado next week. We are going to be staying about 30 miles northwest of Colorado Springs in a log cabin up in the mountains. I know we are doing a whitewater rafting trip one day on the Arkansas River, and one day we'll take the cog train up to the top of Pike's Peak. If any of you know the area and have some suggestions for things to do, I would appreciate hearing them. My sons are 13 and 16, so it takes a lot to keep them 'entertained'.

We are pretty much all packed up tonight. I pick up the rental car at 10:00 tomorrow morning and then we can get loaded up. I wanted a minivan, but they called today and asked if I would take an Expedition. I'm not too thrilled to drive a Ford... especially one with crappy gas milage, but I guess it will do. If I don't get a chance to check in tomorrow, y'all have a good week. I'm sure I will have a lot of catching up to do when I get back next weekend.

We got home yesterday afternoon. Man, what a long drive. But we had a lot of fun. The river rafting is a blast, I highly recommend it if you ever get the chance. And the only way to really see Pike's Peak is to drive up the mountain... absolutely spectacular!!
