Valve body compatibility

I may need to change out the valve body in my Dart. It has a 1981 what looks to be a 904 but may of been referred to as a 998?

Anyway will a valve body from a 1975 904 work in the 1981 transmission?

If they are both non lockup.

Yes both are non lockup

Make sure you at least get a 71 and later so it has the part throttle kickdown valve assembly.

Check the shape of the area just in front of the reverse band adjustment. And check the tops for a tube; indicating a lock up.

It's not a lock up trans. Here are some pics of the parts when I assembled. Input shaft is splined all the way.
