Valve Lash - Hot or cold?

Factory setting. Intake .010 exhaust .020 hot or cold a slant is happy both ways.
I played with different numbers .008 .018, .012 .024 Car always ran the same.

small amounts didnt show up on the old hemi car either...

I know when I started my apprenticeship, about 1/2 of the first dozen /6s I adjusted valves on, came back with the customer not happy.
They seemed fine to me after the test drive. (Every car).
Mentor told me to set to 11/22, - seldom a prob after that .

Have a hard time believing changing lash from 0.008" to 0.024" ....& the car ran the same.
