Gents,

I have a mild 318 with stock heads - hydraulic gear. It's about 9.2:1 compression. I have a repop MP .444 lift 340 spec purple shaft cam. The car will probably max out a 6,000 RPM.

I need a slightly stiffer spring for the cam and wanted some recommendations. I bought a great set of mild Comp springs years ago but lost the number....

Thanks guys

Nick

The Comp #901 have a damper also. May want to think about upgrading the Keepers and Retainers along with new stem seals while at it

Stock 340 springs (or equivalent) also have a damper and are dirt cheap and sure to fit
that cam is not radical or hard on springs
do put in new viton seals
6000 is more than that cam can use unless you have a very wide ratio trans
are your guides machined?

Are the heads on or off the engine? Are the exhaust retainers identical to the intake retainers or are they "rotator" type?

comp does not make springs, neither does edelbrock
If you have a long deal somewhere go there
Elgin
or even Summit brand if name brand looks too expensive
is there a production engine re builder near you
but nothing wrong with the comps
I'm not to far from and have a long deal with the camfather so that's where I go, then we do lunch- used to be with Arias and big John but they have moved on.
