talk to my machinist today and he said that my inner spring had wore a groove out in my heads, wondering if anyone else has had this prob and what is the best way to fix, i hadn ever had this prob before?:blob:
Install valve spring seat inserts, like a spring retainer but on the other end of the spring. All alum heads come with them. Lets see what everyone else suggests.
hi, install .015 hardened steel shim under spring, the machinist should know how to fix that . it'll take the abuse and will not wear spring pocket out. just food for thought.
What's your outer spring diameter? Since stock Mopar SB heads will generally take a 1.50" spring, a narrow diameter will tend to walk a little in the pocket. As i posted earlier, a shim/insert should get you going again.
I see that od. on some aftermarket spring recommendations so i don't think there's normally a problem with that size. If it's the inner only, i would have the machinist look up some locators to see if something there may work?
