I have been very ill since I last year after I decided to change cams. I haven’t been able to work on the 340 since last October. Long story short, when I removed the valve covers I looked at the valve springs and I noticed they had a little bit of red spots on them so I assumed they were stock or 901 springs. I felt good today and I decided to remove the #1exhaust spring and now I’m BAFFLED.
The spring looks too be a double spring and the head looks like it was machined for it and it has approx amount of .02-.03 thousands shims under the springs.
Also The valve stems are a single grove.
Any idea what double springs have red dabs of paint on them?
