Vern Moats passed away. He was a top alcohol funny car owner/driver from the midwest. RIP Vern.

Little story about Vern.He was racing at Wichita International one weekend. I had just had knee surgery and decided to go any way even though I was on crutches. Was by his trailer and he saw I was struggling. He had his guys help me up on his trailer and got me a chair to sit in and watch the races.He even gave me food and drinks for the day and was very nice.I will always treasure that day.He didn't have to do that for a fan but he did out of the kindness in his heart.RIP Vern.

I was at the Gatornationals back in the early-mid '80's and Verne had a helluva crash on the big end. I was surprised that anyone survived that, but he did and returned to racing as soon as he healed up. Strong desire to compete...
