Vin numbers

I hope it stays the same. I just wondered in my mind, if Canadian DMV does a backflip thru their buttholes and hang themselves like State DMV's here in the USA do if a car is stolen or has questionable VIN issues. If that happens here, they remove the original VIN if it is still there, and issue a new one from whichever state. The new VIN tag is a sticker in the door jamb with the new number on it. Either way....I'm glad you're getting the car back to enjoy again.

The popo did say that the vin that the seller registered the car with only showed up in June of 2024. Never ever b4 in Canada or the USA. So hopefully they didn’t change it and just changed the letters to numbers

Apparently the original vin is still on the car. Not the one they registered it with.

I assume they don't do vin verifications in that state / province before title transfer. OR they are really oblivious that a B and an 8 are not the same.

I could see if someone needed glasses BUT really the B looks like a B, but the 8 always looked odd to me, but it does not look like a B

We’re pretty far behind the rest of the world that way. We can hand write a bill of sale on a piece of paper. No worries for me as the original vin is on the car. I have it registered and insured as of this afternoon. Yeah I’m a happy camper.

We can do that too here in Colorado, it just has to be notorized.

I bet you are happy.

Is the unwitting buyer from the thief getting his money back

Idk what’s going on there. But he is out the money unless he sues the seller or the seller has some sense of guilt and refunds his money. I hope the thief seller gets charged with stealing, receiving and knowingly selling stolen property.

We picked up the dart today. Took it to my buddy’s inside storage. I’m pretty happy. Pretty decent shape. But b4 the guy relinquished it to the popo he took the rallye wheels and tires off of it. The electronic ignition system and the stereo and speakers. I hate thieves. I’ll ask the popo what can be done. Kim

**** sakes! I bet the purchaser is pissed, but i can't imagine they will get away with removing parts!

It’s the last guy that bought the car from the thief. He surrendered the car to the popo. He took the stuff b4 it was towed. I’m gonna go talk to the popo here as he took parts that were not his to begin with. Ya, it’s a sad world out there. It also looks like the gears and suregrip were taken out also. The guy that bought it is from Hague.
