G’day all,

I am looking at A/C brackets for an LA block and the Vintage air site has two to choose from, “early to 1969” and “1970 to 1978”. Can anyone tell me the difference between the two?

I know over here in OZ early LA blocks have the short nose cast iron water pump and later ones have the alloy long nose one. The bit that is confusing me is the instructions for the early LA brackets show the alternator on the passenger side of the block (drivers side for you U.S. folk).

Just don’t want to get the wrong one sent all the way over here!

Cheers
Anthony

The early LA's used a cast Iron water pump 70 up went to a aluminum. And the lower rad hose are reversed.Cast is on the driver side,Aluminum passenger.
Just looked at my 68,Alternator is on the passenger side.
Can't say what you have down under.

Cheers mate - I think the early one is what I need in that case.

Appreciate your help

In all U.S. A-body cars, the alternator was on the R side (passenger). In some trucks, the alternator was on the L side (driver's), for sure true with a slant six engine.
