Voltage Regulator Recommendation

You will not gain anything by going with a different type regulator. I would recommend if you haven't already done so is convert over to the later model charging system. Higher amp charging system another words IF your existing wiring is in good shape.
 
I got mine at the local part store. The electrical problems in these cars is usually somewhere else.

I installed a EZ wiring harness already, so my wiring should be able to handle any upgrade..

Well that's good. What amp alternator you running? Early model charging system or late model?
