What size engine are you running and what mods (if any) are done to it? That makes a huge diff. in what a converter will stall at. For instance, lets say you have a converter built to stall 2500 behind a stock 318 then you install a healthy 440. Your stall may jump all the way up to 3500 because the more torque an engine produces the more the converter will stall.
