The alternator can be one of two kinds

3438176 is 37 amp or 3438177 is 50 amp

I think I`ve got a 1966 original , off a big chrysler , never tried to do anything with it ... bob

For round back alternators, part number and build date are on the battery boss.
The front casting should also have a part number, I believe somewhere between the fins.
