I was leaning toward a basic replacement as the best option for you, but wanted to give you all the options I could come up with. I'm sure the welding on your would be fine. but I tend to go for overkill and extreme piece of mind. You should be able to find a good replacement locally from this or one of the other Mopar sites or clubs (google is a beautiful thing), or possibly a local U pull it Yard, and to be honest with a little forethought the engine doesn't have to be removed. simply support it from above as the suspension, steering and K member is removed reinstall and your back in business.
