No bs! I responded to an email from an old friend and now it's emailing my entire list!!!!!!!!!!!

Do not respond if it's from me!!!!!!!!!!!!

That has happened to me Joe, A member sent me a picture of a car and I got a tune of his picture files, I cant remember who it was.

It was a email hack, not a virus. Like I said, I have it dealt with. Sorry all for any viagra ads you might have got...

So....You're not really giving me a 69 RR ? bummer

Yep, got one but didn't open. Glad you got it resolved.

I received one from another member that looked suspicious so I PM'd him to verify it and he confirmed that something had gotten into his address book and was sending the Viagra/drug email out.

I got one,it said you had resolved it,should i open it or delete it?

Just delete it.

Yep, that's exactly what happened to me. It wasn't a virus but it was a e-mail password exploit. I changed my password as soon as I realized what was going on and that solved the problem. I had responded to an e-mail from an old friend that had stated that she had changed her e-mail address. There were no attachments so I thought nothing of it, and since I use Windows Live Mail, there was nothing technically on my machine so my anti-virus didn't catch it. sigh.... You'd think people had better things to do with their time than come up with a Windows Live exploit. I've been avoiding getting Outlook 2007 but I guess it's time to just shell out the cash and quit being such a software cheapskate.

Sorry for any inconvenience all.

Hmmm in the last day I've gotten emails from people I don't know. Maybe just a coincidence. I don't know much about computers but one thing I do know is to delete unknown emails.

Yep, just delete them. I haven't heard from this one gal in 5 years so I thought it would be nice to get back in touch, my bad.. :angry7:

Well Joe, depending on the way you look at it ... Maybe she wants you to hit the Canadian pharmacy and then come see her again. ;-)

I know I was a bit surprised when I read your email and copied the link last night. Hopefully it didn't attach itself to anything I generate (if anybody gets a suspicious email from me, please let me know).

Glad you got the invasion under control!

My computer was hacked by a member here once.

They are a pretty low key member with not many posts.

Who was it? Did you notify the mods?

Wow I never head of this one! I thought it had to have a attachment to do something like that. Glad to hear you got it resolved and thanks for posting about it.

My best guess is that the email address I responded to had a program that did a packet trace and retreived the unencrypted password from Windows Live Mail. Peckerheads..... :angry7:

yes i contacted the mods about it....it was a couple months ago when it happened....I was in chat and the guy was asking all sorts of computer questions and asking what operating system I used and what not and then he sent me a PM and when I opened it my computer went haywire and was the worste computer virus I ever seen.

I had to completely wipe out my computer and reinstall windows 7 just to get rid of the virus because no virus scanner would touch it.

This happened with my Gmail acct. I left the chat option on and it grabbed all the addresses from it. It sucks!!!
