I'm installing a Auto Meter water temp gauge on a 318 with an airgap intake. There are not any predrilled holes that are big enough in the intake for the sensor (1/2"). Is there anywhere else that I can get into the water jacket?

did you get a mechanical gauge?

you could drain some coolant out, pull the thermostat and housing, then stuff a rag with grease on it to catch the shavings, and then drill in tap what you need

Mine came with an adapter that went into the manifold and then the probe went into it.

yea thats the mechanical... you just gonna have to drill out one of the 3/8 NPT ports out for your 1/2" one

Is this a new unopened temp gauge? It should have an adapter down to 3/8" pipe. For clarity, "3/8 pipe" is approximently 5/8" OD
