I have an 8 3/4 in my 66 dart of unknown origin. Drum brakes rear, disc of some sort in front. Single zone master. Over at least the last couple of months my brakes have had a noticeably soft pedal but stopped fine (everything is relative in an early A with a 440.)
This morning I did a short but high RPM rolling burnout during which I never touched the brakes, but did about a block down the road. After this my brake pedal is now much firmer...they actually feel more correct now, and there is no grinding or burning brake smell...what happened? My theory is that there may have been a stuck partially extended shoe that the heat from the burnout broke free...any other ideas? Should I be concerned?
