Greetings everyone, I just purchased a new fuel tank for a 70 Dart. I also purchased a Competition engineering weld on sump Kit. It just really will not fit tank accurately without cutting some off the rear of sump and also taking a section out of the middle and welding back together. Am I going about things all wrong here? Anybody have experience putting one of these on there A Body tank? Any suggestions? Thanks

I have just finished the very same sump unit on my new a-body tank . The instructions tell you to position the sump and drill 2 holes 2 1/2" in diameter before you weld the sump to tank . This is to create a baffle . You can scribe the sump to the tank and tig welding will prevent twisting . Be sure to flush it out and check for leaks . NBD, good luck

I used a ce sump on mine. I just took some time to trim it up so there were no gaps. I also cut the lip off before I started. A die grinder and burr will help shape it.
