Just saw an ad on TV for this

http://win2mopars.com/

Which is claiming to be a big benefit to a children's charity. Now how sweet is that? Well it turns out less than 10% of the money ever benefits anything other than somebody's pocketbook

Which in turn led to this..........

a 'maro board, of all things

In any case, surprise, surprise. "Just enough to be legal"

They are pretty much all like that, even the police benefits.

I like asking them how much of what they get actually goes to the cause and they don't want to talk about it, so I tell them to F off.
I'm getting tired of all the scams and lies people try to pull off so they don't actually have to work for a living.

I used to get called into the bosses office every year during the big "United Way" push. I refused to give a nickle to them but always wondered why the Company always got that "coveted" 100% designation. The boss couldn't require me to donate so they would donate $1 in my name every year. Every year the United way would give away thousands and thousands of dollars in "prizes" to those that made a certain amount in donations. Big scam in my eyes.

Nothing burns my *** more than scumbags pulling on people's heart strings to make a buck.

My mom (may she rest in peace) was raised in a different time and up until the day she died would put a couple dollar bills in each charity envelope that was mailed to her. I would tell her to just throw them away but she couldn't.

I'm with TrailBeast and tell them to F off. I give to my church and helped support my niece while she was in ministry overseas.

I recently saw a list of charities, and what they actually do. If IRC, the Salvation Army was the best.

There is no doubt that some charites are far better than others. Any of you guys remember the debacle about the Road Runner? GTX? drawing here on FABO awhile back? We could not get A THING out of those guys as to "legit" or not. Lot's of words and claims. Might be related to "Justin" LMAO

I'd have to disagree with you about the Salvation Army, they are just as bad. When I was a teacher and then a social worker I would send people to the salvation army. Word got back to me that it was nearly impossible to get any help from them. I have seen that they refuse to help, usually saying that their donors have the final say in where money goes. What kind of BS is that?
Maybe it's here, but just like the United Way and the Susan Coleman?( the cancer place) they are all about supporting themselves first, and what little is left might be given out.

one of the very worse is the NSPCA!!!!! yes they have heart string pulling commercials but a check will prove their execs get the huge salaries and million $$ bonuses.

there are a lot of things in our world that should be illegal, crimes, but whats new?

You're right. About one penny of every dollar goes to the aid of the animals. For giving to support the animals, the best thing to do is give directly to a local shelter.

When I was at Monro Muffler and Brakes years ago, the district manager and I got into over the phone as to why I wouldn't give a penny to the United Way. They were looking for payroll deductions as much as ten percent. He threatened to fire me.

Told him that I was sure the Department of Labor would love to know the reasons I was fired because I wouldn't voluntarily give to the company's "charity" of choice. Especially in light of the fact that Sarah and I were tithing to the church and giving a small percentage above and beyond that to the local Council of Churches (a multi-denominational organization which included the local synagogue).
