tire psi i thought was 12 but was realy 7
next run the computer was down and i think was my best but on time ...([Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean])
then computer went down(i thought was the best time)-----------------------------------
next time i made some changes/100oct. fuel
went to a 750 aed/ho with a 4 hole spacer
with i thought was 11psi but was 16 and went

10psi
rea. .006
4.831 330

next run was 13 psi
rea. -.127
4.894 330

now my car went the fastest with best time with the 950hp and (i think 17psi in the tire)
but my best mph was with the 750aed/ho at 90.005mph

what makes the 950 bust up at the end of the track???sounds like the valve spring going bad...but then i put the 750 on and run out the back door....
now with the 950 it seems that the carb would spin worst then go..(my buddy said he can hear the car spinning the wheel he was on the track with me)but the 750 did not spin as bad or leave as hard but ran out the back door....what should i do work on the 950 or get a 750???? the verta would flash 4000 at about 10mph from a roll, i did get to check that....at 1st i thought i needed some new springs but now i am lost so i thought i would ask the pro's.....i know the car has more in it but where should i start with it????so come on small block guys help me out.. i learned that me tire press. gauge was so far off like 5psi then i change that psi after the 2nd time pass
so do you guys think carb is to big or just need to work on it???

i've got the same setup only 360, with 3.91 gear torker II, i run a 750 race with annular boosters 68/82 jets. looks like the jetting is to fat, maybe not enough fuel?

I have a speculation regarding the spitting at the end of the track, could it be that you are running out of fuel due to the big carb? Maybe your fuel system is not keeping up? The smaller carb wouldnt reveal this issue as much.. I suppose your rpm thru the trap is a little more with the small carb? Ahh just a thought.. Can you monitor fuel pressure while running the car down the track?

The bigger carb may want more intake like a victor. I went from a torker 2 toa victor 340 and picked up almost 3 tenths .Back to back and both mild port.

well i guess beyond all reasoning that your motor simply preforms much better with the 950 on it, so keep it. somethings not giving it enough fuel on the top side like ricenuker mentioned. what is your fuel system comprised of? what are the jets that came in the carb from the factory?

I have a AED 850HO on my 408,it,s 930cfm otb.I haven,t run it yet,but will post times when I do.:clock:

Like most folks said, it sounds like a lean miss at the top end. First thing I would do is take apart the 950 and make sure it's not clogged up or anything and it has the proper jets. Then if the 950 is ok make sure you have a good pump, at least a Holley Blue and 1/2 inch fuel line to provide enough fuel.

yea i have checked it it has the ext in the back i think i may go back down on the jets and go from there.tomm i plan to check the fuel flow.oh yea it holley blue with 1/2 alum. line all the way to reg. then goes to single rubber hose to duel feed line....
hay bob thanks for calling and checking on me, wish you could have been there..i had alot of freinds there that said there car was not 60' as it should or have before....they sparyed the track about 9:00 and man that was worst....but hay it was the 1st outting and i still picked up a 10th..old mopar man that race told me a few tricks and told me if i work on it that it should go a 20 or better when work out....but anyway im on top off it had a good time...:-D

old man told me he was freinds with mr. biily west say he went to billy yrs ago when he raced his volary with a 360 init and could not hook the car...told me billy came out and yold him ill give you a .50 cent trick back the shock nuts off the front shocks some and watch how you car tranfer weight then(dont take them off but back them off a few treads)i rocked my car with the nuts as tight as they should be very stiff, now i back the nuts off and just about able to bounce the car off the gound ...i have not tried this at the track and dont know if i will but i do know i need to go to the qa-1 soon...but i do plan to try them in the street today..hahahahah and ill let every one know how it worked out...but has anyone ever tried that or did it before?????if so try it with just bounceing in the yard and what a diff. it makes....anyway we all know the tricks and and stuff the old racers use to do, and billy was 1 bad guy in his days (RIP MR. WEST)

What were the 60's with each carb.

People that say the 950hp is too large likely don't realize the venturi is the same size on a 750 and 950hp. The numerical rating mean very little here. The throttle plate is 1/16 large on the 950hp, that's it. Had one 340, same cam, that I mentioned to you before that made 12 more HP with the 950hp over a 750DP and was equal in the low end.

Loose on the front end is good... as long as it's not too much (mostly an issue when going in the 9's and quicker. Keep working on the 60's and get that carb pop figured out and it will get better.

MPH probably went up because you spun the tires more.

What ign are you running box/wires and how much high speed bleed does that carb have ?the 88's are a little small with no power valve.

bob i missed your post this morning we must have been on about the same time..anyway im going to check the gph on this 1 and make sure its not going out on me and then i plan to add a fram fuel filter at the pump at the back i have 1 of those little small 1s now up front and they my be the problem....but if i had to change the pump it may step up to more race pump like mall. or something...

crackedback the 60's was all over the placehere they are from 1st to last
1.663 4.761/330 87.762mph with the 950 7.440et
1.702 4.839/330 90.005mph with the 950 7.534et
1.67 4.831/330 58.772mph with the 750 8.435 lift got out of control
1.708 4.894/330 7.607mph with the 750 7.607et

robr i have the msd 6al with a 7000 pill init i tried the 8000 to see if the 7000 was comeing on to soon but still same miss.my wires are the moroso blue.the air bleeds in my carb are the press type not removeable so not sure of the size i need to get overto holley site and find out whats in it from them...yea i have 88 bk with no pv will try somemore in it next outting..for sure...
\
thanks for all the tips and help so keep it comeing im headed in the right way just got to work the bugs out......by the way my last run was with the car at 210deg. alt. belt came off and almost killed the batt. didnt know until i was stagged had to turn the fan and wter pump off and the end of the race it started poping try ing to turn off......
