I have my night time tail lights and dash lights and tach light And oil pressure light wired up to a switch and problem I have just started. When I turn the switch on the tach jumps to like 3k??? its an auto meter...what gives?

My supertach did that it was a ground problem, when I threw it on the ground it stopped doing it.

Sorry burnt, seriously it was a ground I couldn't help it.

still doing it, the ground is fine, and it only does it when i also have the head lights on, basically I have the headlights running off the headlight switch and the night time tail lights and dash lights running off the map light switch. and when ever the head lights are on and i flip on the tail lights my gauge jumps to 3k and acts as if its at 1k

I don't think the map light should be operating anything except the map light.
re-wire the tail lights back into the headlight circuit.

well it was working ok like that before...they are in the headlights its just that some were from the connector to the wire to the headlight switch its not getting power so i had to run a power to that wire that controlled the dash lights and tail lights

Did you find out what the problem was?

If you don't mind my asking, what's the reason for the unusual wiring setup?
Was it to correct an electrical problem you were having?
I first thought it was to reduce the amps -and heat- going through the headlight switch (relays would fix that), but now I'm not sure.

to fix a problem. When I turned my lights on the tail lights and dash lights wouldent turn on. So when i put power to the wire, they would...so i put them on a switch with power

Thought so. Not many people get creative with wiring unless they're trying to fix something. :)
Sounds like the headlight switch may have been bad.

Did you find out what was making the tach act up? I was looking forward to finding out what was causing it, then noticed it had been a few weeks since the last update...
Sounds like an interesting problem.
