So some might remember Westen, the kid with Muscular Dystrophy whom I took on the cruise. Well the car club went another step further, we built Westen a soap box derby car for the races this year. Sadly I was out of town for it but the car club came through in style!

Look it's a soapbox derby car!

The skull shifter? That's the brake handle!

So there will be some minor changes to the car. We will be wiring the headlights and taillights so they will work and changing the break system a little. Also the rear tires are being swapped out for rear tires off a riding lawn mower to give it that more hotrod look. Westen will then be taking and putting his soapbox car into next year's car show.

Also the car club will be making two more derby cars. One for Westen's sister, and the other will be raffled off with tickets being FREE!

It's GREAT to see CARGUYS stepping up to the plate to do things for kids!! They are the next generation of CARGUYS. NICE JOB!!

It needs a dodge emblem.....looks good those. Sounds like a great bunch of guys.

It is so great that a club comes together for this. I know Western is really proud of his new wheels and trophy. Great job.

Convert the shot out front of the store to B&W.

Man, that is so awesome. He'll remember that the rest of his life.

That is freaking cool. Now you gotta figure out a way to easily get a lawn mower engine in it as well, but still be easily removable so it's still eligible for SBD racing. :D

Another plan was to build a little soapbox kind of car with an engine and in the shape of a tow truck to use to drag the soapbox derby back up to the top of the hill for Westen (he's confined to a wheel chair).

I would like to invite you all to the Horsepower Hooligans website that was just created earlier this week. It still needs a LOT of work but it's a start.

www.HorsepowerHooligans.com

So....when are the hoodies and t's gonna be available on that website? If they look like the "artist rendition", I'd like to add one to my wardrobe.

Right now it's a matter of capital. We are a brand new club with only a few members.

The president is actually painting up a fridge sort of like Westen's Soapbox car (flames, maybe the skull, etc). We will auction THAT off and use the money from that to purchase the first run of gear.

The picture of him with the helmet on just looks right.

Looks like right outta "Our Gang" LOL

That's great. Just great.

That is awsome. And the idea of a mini tow truck to put him back up the hill is just cool. Makes me wanna build 1 just to sit in from of the garage.
Maybe I need to find a car club around here.
