What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Moved my engine about three feet higher. Now it's time to clean up the mess that I created over the last two years.

Headed to buddy's house...he built me a shop last spring for it...now it's time to finsh...vinyl/brick.....pour slab..etc...

My buddy came over to finish my shop today he traded the demon that I give him for building my shop for a damn Ford Mustang but he claims it's a very fast car 441 stroker/powerglide(aftermarket$$$)and it's a lot of money tied up in it I don't really care but I just realized he can't hold on to nothing...Ole boy couldn't wait to trade titles.....he had the nerve to bring it to my house ...I could tell the little ford was nervous surrounded by Mopes

Got tired of not being able to see my gauges due to the lights being too dim in my 71 Demon 340. Then one evening i had NO dash lights so it forced my hand. Tested it out and the headlight switch was the culprit. So I got a new switch and decided to install LEDs for the gauge lights. Got them from SuperBrightLEDS.com.

Pulling a rallye dash cluster is no fun! They are too long and too many other things have to come out to get them out...like the radio and ashtray. And these of course bring their own issues like the defrost ducts, etc, etc. Taped up the dash to protect it and got the cluster out. I tested each bulb in its socket using a 12v power supply. These LEDs are nice in that polarity does not matter plus they are dimmable. Installed them, put power to the dash on the bench and confirmed everything worked. Then reinstalled with the new headlight switch. Also added an additional ground wire to the back of the circuit board for good measure.

WOW - what a difference. I can see the gauges now!! I need to swap out some more of these for sure. I do have one issue and that is the dome light now wants to randomly stay on. If I reach under there and wiggle some wires near the headlight switch, it goes off. I think it is just a wire too close to the dome light wire but until I get back upside down under the dash, I won't know for sure. Aarrgghhhh!!!

Finalized my @DoctorDiff install today on the 73 Duster, dropped new fuel sender in while rear was out, took a nice shower in 93 octane but I have a gas gauge again. New bilsteins on all 4 sides and swapped in new ebrake cables and wheel cylinders. This car sat for 15years before I bought it 9/22 and has sat since then because I’ve been dismantling and jazzing it up.

I’m eyeing a sunny warm next Friday to get the old gal out again! Fuses, another spare ballast resistor, tools, air up the tires sorta stuff today.

Put 1 inch lowering blocks on the back of Donnatella and went for a test ride, it seems all good.
On the way we stopped and said hello to her cousin Donnie Dart

Went to lunch today with friends. We all brought out our green Mopars for St Patrick's Day (a few days early). Mine is the one in the middle. We got a table over looking the parking lot (best seats in the house!).

Been a while since I rolled through here....

Slow going, or at least it seems. Sourcing parts and figuring out things has become time consuming. Getting close to having the drive train back in the car.

Got as much done as I could today. The V8 transmission is about ready... got the kickdown seal replaced, new filter installed cleaned off the ancient fix-a-gasket that was gooped on everywhere as well as the ever-present melted potting from a volage regulator.

Have to let the park housing soak in some PB Blaster overnight. The drain plug is torqued in there really tight and I don't want to risk damage.

The cables that came off the transmission are in really good shape. Outer covering has cracks but no leaks in either the shift or park cables. Really happy with the condition.

Fluid was clear and free of debris.. filter looked like it could've been re-used.

Well, I suppose this is not to or with the car(s) but it is FOR the car(s)! lol. Tired of always crawling around on the floor so got me a new lift. It's both a symmetric and asymmetric lift. Finished up the wiring for it this evening. Hope to put it to use tomorrow to prep the avatar for going to the track on Saturday.
