I am going to install a proform stock style distributor with msd adjustable boot 8mm wires and am unsure if these wires will be OK and what coil to use.I plan on mounting the coil on the intake manifold.the car will use a stock box and ballast resistor

Pretty much any stock type canister coil with a primary resistance of 1.4-1.5 ohms.

8mm wires are too thick for the stock wire looms, if that’s an issue.

As for the coil;
I have had excellent results with the big yellow square-top Accell Supercoil.
Easily goes to 7200 on the Street, idles all day, and mine is about 25 years old now. I run mine off the battery, thru a relay, that is turned on by the ignition switch; so the power is not going thru the bulkhead nor the ignition switch.
It needs it's own ballast-resistor.
But that sucker is too big to mount on the intake. Mine is on the P-side apron with a long Coil-wire, part of my anti-theft system.

I need them so I can bend the ends to avoid the headers
Yes, you can bend them a little. There are nice protective coverings you can buy too. Just slip them over the ends on plugs 5 and 7 for additional protection- Small block Mopars are tight there
