i want my car to handle, not woried about a smooth ride. Anybody put KYB's on their abody? how do they handle, they dont want an arm and a leg for a set of KYB shocks so i thought id ask sombody how they perform?

used them on a few cars.. and have them on jamie's dart and i like them... some fon't like the ride. i'm ok with it.. they are firm but not harsh..

I use kyb's on both my Darts. For the money they are hard to beat.Great shocks.

I had some on my Duster..they rode okay but they leaked in just over a year....maybe I had a bad set or the abuse at the track busted the seals on the front shocks but I won't buy another pair.

Funny story or me just admitting I am a dumb ***!! I jumped on Summits website last Friday and ordered shocks for the 71 swinger I just bought a few weeks ago since I am planning on driving to Columbus for the Nats. I pick the KYB's and ordered them they arrived yesterday, I opened the box and there were only 2 shocks...1 front and 1 back. Being the rocket scientist I am only ordered 1 of each figuring the came in a set, not sure how I figured that since they were 37 bucks DOH :banghead:

I did put the 1 front and 1 rear on last night and boy it sure needed them. It raised the front almost 1 1/2 inches and back a little over an inch

I have them on my 68 Barracuda and I am quite satisfied with them. The firmed up the ride but are not harsh. I am coming up on 50k miles on them and they are still doing the job.

What are you going to run?

im not woried about quarter mile times, (im a ways away from the nearest track) it a 360 with about 450horse to the flywheel, 355 gears, its my daily driver. I just want somthing stiffer than stock shocks. I get tired of getting passed by imports around corners, even though they run away when its a straight line race

Um.... What are you going to run for tires.

If you are going to run BFG TAs and not a high performance tire, I believe the KYBs will live up to your expectations.

I guess what I was trying to get at was.... What are your cornering expectations.

Im also guessing that you are not going to run 275-??-??s on the front.

Not to get pissy, but I want my car to corner does not tell us much.

I want to answer your question about the KYBs but you need to give more info for a real reply.

They may or may not be what you are looking for.

KYBs are just a good quality NORMAL shock, nothing more.

BTW... KYBs and Fat BFG TAs will still leave you way behind in the corners when it comes to imports. A 130hp Miata will run circles around any A body with the mild suspension mods you are talking about.

Im not trying to "drift race" "trans am race" or anything like that, I just want a firmer feel around the corners, thats all, and i just thought ask people what they thought of KYB's. My car is set up great right now for going fast in a straight line but my shocks are stock and need too be replaced. thanks everybody for your help, my shocks will be in next week

a few questions for you thanson. im gonna be running a similar setup, 360 with 400+ hp and 275/60/15 tires and 3.55 gears. just curious on cruising speeds and how street friendly it is. what are the full dimensions of your tires?

Just an FYI A 275-60-15 is about 28" tall, the stock tire for an A body was about 25.5" tall. If you are going to run a 275-15 it should be a 275-50-15 at about 25.83" tall or a 265-50-15 at just under 25.5".

The tall rear tire in back will reduce gear ratio, eat up power (more mass to turn), mess with the caster, and is all around a bad thing for a street performance car.

oh, it will be a little diffret then cause i got a four speed, i can run about 75 mph on the interstate at about 3,500 rpm. but its very street friendly. 355 gears are perfect for street, not too much not too little, get the best of both worlds. I would love a set of 410's but i dont want to drive on the interstate at 55 mph. lets just say my motors not fully broken in yet so ive been taking it easy on it and i havent lost a race yet (3 mustangs, 2 4.6s, 1 supercharged 5.0). I know that the supercharged 5.0 runs about a 13.2 quarter mile just to give you an idea. i want to put a set of slant six decals on my car just for fun, oh and i dont know the specs of your motor but if you have the cash too do it then have your your heads fully (street) ported. It makes one hell of a difference. Im 17 and dont have much money but i spent 950.00 on having the heads ported (local mopar only repair shop) and it was the best money i have spent yet. plus im thinking about adding a procharger so having my heads worked like this give me some room to work with forced air induction
