Refresh my memory... Our A bodies are 18 gauge sheet metal thickness?

More like 20 gauge, or a little thicker. I know in metric they're around .7mm, and my Sweptline is closer to .9mm, and at least from what I've seen the a-body panels seem a little thicker than what mustangs and falcons had, but where the steel is stretched like spare tire well, it can get a bit thinner.

18 g is 0.05 thick and 2 lbs a square foot that seems a little thick maybe .

My early A bodies are 18 gauge. I would not replace it with 20 or 22 gauge as thats how thin the newer cars are.

Best I could tell with a micrometer on mine which is '75.. Body panels, floor, trunk etc is probably all 20ga.inner rockers and some brackets were 18 and frame 14,

Okay, Thanks. I didn't think to mic it. I have a piece that I've been using for my rust repairs, but has gotten real small and need a new sheet of metal. I'll see about getting some more. Thanks!
