Mineral spirits! Hands down my go to hand cleaner.

Kills the stench of gear lube pretty quickly too; about the only thing this side of brake cleaner that does...

Growing up, my Dad always used Lava, and he was a mechanic at the local Cummins Diesel repair shop.

Hell, Back in the 50's and 60 leaded gas was the hand and fore arm cleaner of the day. Also cleaned parts with it.

Yeah, the pre-alcohol gas worked real good at removing grease.
