How the hell do I describe this thing? Here goes!

Okay, the car in question is a 1971 Plymouth Duster. There's some sort of, uh, shield protecting some lines near the filler tube. It looks like it might screw on inside the wheel well. Obviously the rear driver's side. What the hell is it called and where can I get a replacement?

need more info ... These sound like they're probably the EEC lines .

- Slant Six ?
- 318 ?
- 340 ?

- California model ( N95 ) ?
- 49 state ?
- Hood Scoops ?

'71 saw some changes in emissions' controls , and these varied between Ca.-destined and 49-state-destined cars .

It's a slant six car. I thought they'd all be the same regarding the part I'm talking about.

This is the car in question. I circled where that shield-type thing is at. Somewhere around there anyways...

It is the shield covering the collision impact protection vent system on your 71. This was discontinued and never used again. do to the fact that the dome light would light up the car when exiting after a collision. Towed a couple back in the day this happened to but never saw one burned up. Also takes a special unvented cap one year only.
