Can someone tell me what this little hump next to 4 speed shifter hole is for? Is this a center console clip or something?

It's to keep the seat from hitting the shifter as it is adjusted forward. Bench seats I think, but I believe they all have it.

Makes sense, and I've wondered that for over 20 years. Thanks!

I was told many years ago that it was there to stop the bench seat from being adjusted too far forward. Seems that it would interfere with the shifter when shifting into second and fourth gear. I believe all four speed cars got this bracket regardless if bench, buckets or 4spd console.

My 72’ Demon has that - and still wears her factory rubber floor mat and 4 speed shifter. The low level bench seat is too high. I always thought it was for a center console.

Yes, they were put on no matter what. My 69 GTS 383 4-speed with buckets and console has it also...
