Always something..
I removed the aftermarket "race( sic')style steering column from my Demon. Thinking, I can install my factory steering column, get a key made and get the car moving forward in getting the interior painted, etc.
Nope. Im running a manual steering box that has a Mancini adapter ( like power to manual column) this came on the car when I bought it.

The sector shaft hole in the bottom of the column it too big.
Are there different adapters with small and large splints?
Or do i need to buy a manual column?
Any help ?
Thanks all!

PS boxes have a smaller diameter input splined shaft than manual boxes.

There are (at a minimum) 2 slip joints, one for Manual and one for PS.

There are (at a minimum) 2 steering shafts, one for PS (Shorter than manual) and one for manual steering

This is all year dependent too.

So if you have a manual steering steering column and a manual steering slip joint and a manual steering steering gear you are all set

If you have any other combination you will need to replace parts or if you are lucky you can get an adapter that lengthens a ps steering shaft to manual steering length.

IMHO

DO NOT MANUALLY LENGTHEN OR SHORTEN THE STEERING SHAFT. your and others life depends on it

Here is a link to my post where I show the differences in the steering shafts. it is specific to 67-69 but you will get the point

Manual vs Power Steering Shafts

Is this the adapter you have?

MRE - Manual Steering Adapter

If so, it is designed that the big end goes on the manual gear box (larger splined input shaft) and the small end goes into the power steering slip joint end that would have gone on the ps geer box.
