What parts are worth keeping off of a /6

Thanks for all the info, i still need to buy a engine stand so i can at least get it off the ground and get it supported, i will double check the numbers but with it being the original engine out of my demon im assuming its a 225

Maybe. The 198 ran until 1974? I think? I know it ran both 71 and 72 so the Demons could have gotten the 198. If he'll see this, @slantsixdan will tell us.

i learnt years ago, when looking at old second hand engines and having not a lot of cash. the man who takes the one that looks the worst usually wins

the worse it looks the longer it has been out of the car and NOT doing miles

id rather hone or clean up at 10 thou than have to deal with a 3rd rebuild 40 thou over chopped about mess.

its luck in general, but an engine pulled out at 5 years and stuck in the yard out back, due to a cracked exhaust manifold or some such, is the engine i want.....
Makes an excellent baseline to start from.
The more complete it is, the better..... a box of parts is less desirable...what is missing?

Well the 198 was the standard non-option engine for Demons in 1971 but 198 1971 Demon's don't seem to exist.
 
I've seen them hopped up with a shaved head and a four-speed with a set of gears and you would not know you was in a six cylinder trust me...I believe 198 dusters and demon were a B code....C code for 225 and G for 318 and H for the hoss
 
Going to hopefully buy a engine stand this weekend, here is some more numbers i found, wont be able to see the driver side until i get it up off the ground.

I am wondering about the 198 cars. Mine 3 on the tree, no PS, PB, radio, cigar lighter. It does have dealer added air with a very interesting AC sticker on the window. I can get a pic if you wish.

Oh, and the rear gear? 3:23 7 1/4"
Bought the car with 26,700, and it is in the 67K range now. Hasn't moved since 2009.
 
Ok guys, got it on a stand and got all the brackets off as well as the intake and exhaust manifold, surprisingly the only bolt that broke was on the heat riser in the exhaust manifold. According to the numbers on the head it appears to be a 225?

That's a 225 unless someone rebuilt it and didn't deck the block. That B216206 is a partial VIN number, does it match the car that the engine came out of?
