What should it cost to have the tail light bezels (with a little pitting) restored and plated? I found some NOS ones but man are they high!! 0anyone have any ideas?

And those prices depend on how pitted they are and whether you have just 2 (like a 64 dart) or 4 as on a 65/66 Dart.

Don't know what you consider "little pitting"?

Plating varies a ton in pricing. Quality varies a lot too, but not always proportional to the price.

I know someone that got some 68 Dart bezels rechromed for about $100 ea but with some other pot metal replated parts (vent wings/handles, door handles...) . So it's tough to get an exact price. I think it was Orange County Plating in Orange California. http://www.ocplating.com/

The original bezels had some pits that broke through the plating surface that look like little craters and are pushed up on the surface. Quality was decent to OK. Lost a little bit definition, little wavy, you can see indentations where the old cratered pits were in the very corners of the bezel next to the black paint.

In my personal opinion, I would not consider the bezels he started with in very good to excellent used shape to begin with. I have nicer used 68 bezels than those. I do not think the rechrome job was the best in the business either.

The 67 bezel includes the rest of the housing. So that is a bigger piece than a 68 bezel. Even though the chrome everyone sees is the same area, I'm sure a chrome plater will charge more for a 67 bezel/housing. And there is a square chrome rectanagle that's fused to the lens itself. IMHO, gotta remove that and rechrome too unless it's in really excellent shape.

BUT, you have to be realistic with the end restoration, realistic with the the consitancy of the end restoration, and then relate that to your budget.

Now, YOU will have to go back and mask and paint the black on your taillight bezels when you get them back from rechroming.

I thought PG Classics offers 67 tailight assymblies with new lenses too. If your lenses are cracked, chipped, very faded I see no reason to rechrome decent looking bezels.

Sorry these are not great picture of the finished bezels from Orange County Plating.
