Gerry rafferty , right down the line, and baker street.

These 2 tunes take me back to the mid 70s when we were vacationing in the carolinas.

Now the 80s man it was ZZtop, AC/DC , bon jovi, led zepplin, the doobie brothers, van halen, def leppard, aerosmith, and so much more that i cant think of one specific song from any of them that takes me back specifically.

If i had to pick an 80s time warp song it would be bon jovi's song let it rock, while cruising north jersey in the wintertime in my black dodge daytona shelby z. Or Aerosmiths walk this way while cruising my 69 charger down to seaside with my girlfriend back in 1989.

Btw A body joe, eddie and the cruisers was a movie, you are thinking of the soundtrack to this movie, i had a copy of this on cassette. The actual band that played the music for eddie and the cruisers movie was john cafferty and the beaver brown band.

For a short time my Dad played keyboard in a combo and this was their signature song, they had a vocalist named Betty who sang beautifully.

My Dad would take me along when the band set up, and later I would listen to the reel-to-reel tape of their gig. It was a secure, happy time before I knew about divorce or loss or anything bad happening. Many times drowsing across the back seat of the Valiant, just awake enough to feel the car making the last few turns till we were back home....

The Rolling Stones album Hot Rocks reminds me of back in high school we bought some snowmobiles so we could go snowmobiling with our friends up in Minnesota. It was our first snowmobiling trip and they knew the Yamaha dealer owners and got us a great deal. We went to Minnesota and rented some cabins that were close together. It was My friends parents, the three brothers, me & my bro, and the owners of the Yamaha dealer and their three daughters... And some of the employees/mechanics at the Yamaha dealer.

When we got there, there was about 2 1/2 feet of snow on the ground already. The mechanics went off on their own, and us kids went out together, but didn't wander as far off as the Yamaha crew. There was so much snow, that we could ride on the streets, they still had enough snow on them after getting plowed! If we went off in the brush, there was so much snow that the snowmobiles would ride up on it, then sink and then push/plow snow...

During warm up breaks, we would drink hot chocolate, listen to Hot Rocks, play cards and goof off with each other (the five of us boys and the three girls). My brother ended up hooking up with one of the Yamaha dealer's daughters and dated her for a while after that.

One of the days that we were up there, it snowed real hard (blizzard). Us kids stayed in, but the mechanics all went out. They came back that night with like 8 out of 12 of their sleds crashed. The snow got so bad, one of them stopped because he couldn't even see the guy in front of him, then the rest of the guys behind him couldn't see him and reverse domino'ed into the back of each other. 7 sleds piled front to rear.... Holy crap!

By the end of the week's stay, all but one of the mechanic's snowmobiles was not damaged (he was the only one that owned his sled, the other guys borrowed them). So the other guys had to repair the damaged snowmobiles before returning them back to their owners when they got back home.

As for us "kids", none of our snowmobiles got damaged. We were more careful with our sleds. We had a great time breaking them in and listening to Hot Rocks during our warm up breaks.

well for some of us, younger days were not that long ago :jocolor:

but I have a good memory with an older song that could classify as rock I guess.

I was waiting in the airport in Dubai, Saudi Arabia en route to Houston,Tx....and I was dozing off (long layover) but I could hear music from a vendor near by and if anyone has ever been there ...this airport is largest one on the planet so they have stores and vendors selling everything you can think of in there .....well near where I was waiting was a vendor selling music CDs and he was having a promotion on "AmreeKAN" classic rock and he was playing this song, he was trying to unload his stock of American Music ......this song sounded so clear and it stuck in my brain ...now every time I hear it ....I get taken back to that memory of when I was traveling a lot.

I remember when that album came out. I had just got my license and it was cold in middle of winter. I remember listening to that tape while driving in my old 68 barracuda fastback and freezing while the engine warmed up.

The 60's was the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean and other drag racing/car songs. The 70's was the Doors and acid rock. I don't remember a lot of the 70's. After that the music kinda ended for me. I enjoyed AC/DC, Aerosmith, Metallica and Tom Petty at some great concerts. Now that I'm almost deaf I really have to crank it to hear it.

These couple songs remind me of getting wasted with my buddies back when I was about 19. Drinking, smoking and whatever else, mixed with fast cars, long stretches of freeway and boredom. Top speed runs and driving like idiots......meant to be played on "11".
