I was searchin' something unrelated, when I came across "Unisteer" who makes REAR MOUNT rack kits for B & E bodies.

Surely that must mean that out there somewhere is a "stocker" that uses a reversed rack & pinion?

read quite a bit of bad things about uni-steer.. there was just a thread here about it not too long ago.

Bumpety. Let's try this again.

"What factory stocker uses a rear mount steering rack?"

I just (finally) found out today that some Nissan racks are "rear mount", I.E. should be easily adaptable to Mopar steering.

I invite the rest of you to go out, look at your stockers, and determine if the rack is in front or rear of the front axle.

What we're looking for, of course, is something "bigger than a Fiat" that's strong enough to handle an A body, left hand drive (I'm in the USA) and somewhat adaptable.

How 'bout the bigger Nissan pickups?

According to post 91, evidently also Toyota Corolla?

Well if it comes down to it you can always order up an AlterKation front end kit

82-85 toyota celicas have a rear mount rack. The car is about 2800 lbs. Might be the same one in the supra of the same year too.

Omni is a rear steer also. Intrepid is also and the tie rods mount in the center of the rack.

No, I'm not into the big bux. The idea is to "get some ideas" and see if there's a rack that will be practical to adapt into the existing steering. That is, mount relative to the existing drag link

the daytona's and the mini van's have the rack pretty much right on the firewall...

Thanks guys This is EXACTLY the type of info I was lookin' for. I couldn't find any pictures of the vans on the WWW, but thought they might be.

Now I have some idea of what areas of the "pick n pull" yard to look in. With my arthritis, I can no longer waste much yardage hiking

Might want to pm bob shingler, I believe he has a rack in his car with the factory k-frame.....
