The liberty equalizer 5 speed and it's successor variants are typically clutchless and more often than not air shifted. You can buy a used 5 speed for 7k if the timing is right. 2500 for a bellhousing, clutch and flywheel isn't out of the norm if you shop around.
For comparison an ATI superglide is $6800+ and their bolt together converter is $2500. At that level of durability and awesomeness the price points are very comparable IMO.
